Tea Sweets

Tea Sweets are delectable cookies made with premium tea leaves. The tasty little cookies are the work of the talented gals at Amai Tea & Bake House in NYC. The idea for Tea Sweets was developed when Amai’s co-owner and resident baker Kelli Bernard thought it strange that “tea cookies” typically contain no tea at all. Amai’s Tea Sweets are a variety of basic butter, sugar, and almond cookies combined with classic tea flavors such as earl grey, green tea, chai and lemongrass along with complimentary spices. The cookies are made with real quality loose leaf drinking tea, no artificial flavorings or cooking grade tea.

Amai sells their Tea Sweets through their website, you can also find them at Teasim in Washington, DC and the following NY locations: Takashimaya New York, Tavalon, and Wild Lily Tea Room. While you can still find the 24 cookie gift box (which I had the pleasure of sampling) featuring Earl Grey & Currant, Lemongrass & Ginger, Green Tea, and Chai Almond cookies in the stores Amai is currently selling a new featured item online: White Tea and Strawberry Tea Sweets. The White Tea and Strawberry Tea Sweets will be available until June 30th 2006.

According to the Amai website:

The new White Tea & Strawberry Tea Sweets tin offers 10 delicate strawberry-scented cookies flavored with pink peppercorns and a touch of spice. Each cookie pairs perfectly with your favorite cup of tea.

Amai Tea & Bake House is “inspired by adventurous flavors, the Asian art of gift-giving and exquisite design.” And they are “dedicated to bringing you delicious, all-natural sweets that compliment the tea-drinking experience.” If you’re a tea fan or have a loved one who is, you can’t go wrong with Tea Sweets, a top quality tea treat from the ingredients and taste right down to the packaging.
