Espresso Mocha Cookies - Are They Right On Target?
As a long time faithful and devoted Target shopper, I find myself to be pretty confident with their store-brand products. So I was thrilled and suddenly hungry when on a recent trip to my local Target I spotted a vast assortment of gourmet coffee and tea items under the Target brand Archer Farms. This would be my first experience with Archer Farms, but all the products were atleast moderately enticing and the packaging fairly attractive. As I stood in the isle asking myself which beverage I wanted to fill my cuppa with first my eyes were averted to the Espresso Mocha Cookies, and I knew my decision had been made. For a sweet-toothed coffee lover, how could I pass up something with a package that reads:
“Robust espresso and mocha all rolled into a crunchy cookie…
Indulge in a snack bursting with chunks of dark chocolate, coffee flavor, butter and vanilla taste. The taste with definitely perk you up.”
I couldn’t! I absolutely couldn’t pass these cookies up, but would they live up to their description? I was dying to find out. I rushed home, hungry for an afternoon snack, something with a nice chocolaty coffee flavor to perk me up from an afternoon of errand running and frying in the humid southern summer.
With the first bite I quickly realized that even some Target products don’t live up to the hype. I’ve given these cookies second and third taste tests and there is no espresso flavor that I can report. I was extremely disappointed as these aren’t even a good plain ol chocolate chip cookie. There is no “gourmet” buttery vanilla taste, just store bought, mass produced chocolate chip cookie flavor. And you know what? If I’m going to eat that, I’d much prefer a Chips A’hoy!
