Fresh Roast: Brazil Yellow Bourbon (Burman Coffee)

Call it coincidence, but my new green coffee beans from Brazil arrived, just after I completed my FIFA World Cup pool with Brazil taking it all. Maybe my coffee juju will help them break the curse of a South American country winning on European soil. I watch and wait in anticipation, well caffeinated.
And, since I’m going to be drinking these Yellow Bourbon beans for the next little while, I’m glad that they are so good! I’ve been roasting these as a single origin, very dark. They make for a very nutty deep cup… and if you are interested in blending your own, they’d make a perfect base (in fact, similar Brazilian beans are typically used in French roast blends).
The beans are from Burman Coffee traders, a small company in Madison, WI. The beans are very reasonably priced, typically from $4 to $6 per pound (except the Jamacian Blue Mountain). They offer a great variety including a number of Fair Trade and Bird Friendly coffees and several different green decaf beans (something that’s been harder for me to find).
