Continuing Quest: The Perfect Coffee Frozen Treat
Undaunted by the delightful-sounding, yet ultimately disappointing Blisscotti, I am continuing my search for the perfect frozen coffee treat. I finally determined my criteria for perfection: I do not have to make it, it is readily available, not so expensive that I must forego actual food in order to purchase it, must be decidedly COFFEE based (none of this ???Caramel with a hint of coffee??? that really just means it tastes like burnt caramel), must be sweet, cold and taste amazing. I didn???t think this would be challenging when I embarked on this mission.
I chose a more conservative route this week: Starbucks. I???m generally not a big Starbucks frequenter (I tend toward tiny hole-in-the-wall coffee purveyors). But, after my disappointing first test, I needed something familiar. Enter Starbucks Mocha Frappucino Popsicles.

Based on the Criteria:
Preparation: Only basic unwrapping skills required. Off to a good start.
Availability: These babies were at every store with a freezer section in a 10 mile radius, from Whole Foods, to Albertson???s to the corner convenience store.
Cost: For 6 Popsicles, it was about $4-$5, not bad.
Coffee based: Definitely very mocha-flavored. No denying the coffee in these.
Sweet, cold: It???s so sweet and cold it almost freezes the teeth right out of your head.
Overall Tasting notes: Very rich, nice texture, creamy without falling apart. The chocolate almost overpowers the coffee, but is quite tasty. Basically, imagine a mocha with hot fudge poured in and you???ll be on the right track.
Essentially, I would buy these for the same reasons I go to Starbucks: You know exactly what you are getting. While there is something to be said for consistency, this is essentially the adult version of a Fudgesicle.
I???ll call this one a success, but still not perfect. No worries, I won???t stop eating treats until I???ve completed this quest.
