Hey, there’s Starbucks in my freezer

No, I didn’t leave my latte in the freezer. Okay, well I sort of did - I left my Starbucks Low Fat Latte ice cream in the freezer. You can bet it won’t stay there for long though, it’s that good.

In general, I’m not a big consumer of ice cream. I like it, I just don’t eat it much. Much of that is probably attributed to the fact that I usually reach for the full fat stuff and feel terribly guilty after I’ve eaten it. That’s not so much true since I found out how incredibly delicious Starbucks Low Fat Latte ice cream is. I haven’t tasted any of the other flavors, but I can tell you Low Fat Latte gets my vote. It’s the only low fat flavor Starbucks makes, although they do make Frappaccino popsicles which are low fat.

Starbucks teamed up with Dreyer’s Grand ice cream around 1997 to crank out seven heavenly flavors: Low Fat Latte, Classic Coffee, Caramel Cappuccino Swirl, Java Chip, Mud Pie, Coffee Almond Fudge and Coffee Fudge Brownie. If the Low Fat Latte tastes as rich and decadent as it does, I can only imagine what the other flavors taste like.

I may just feel a research project coming on…

That’s my kind of research project; I’m currently researching the new Breyers flavors myself. ;)

Freshly roasted coffee is going to make a lot of difference in the ice cream flavor. But I am not very sure about how much low it is in fats.

However, the caffeine kick is sure to send ice cream in the gourmet category.

Perhaps we should compare our findings Cate? =)

I discovered the Coffee Almond Fudge a couple years ago. Like you, I’m not a big ice cream fan. I like it but never really crave it - that ice cream nearly changed that for me!

After a couple cartons I cut myself off - it was a close call! :-)

Brenda, thankfully I don’t crave ice cream too often either. And when I do I have a tendency to eat from the carton - not good when it involves this ice cream, as I can never seem to get enough of it! Yum-o!

I’m just glad I tasted & got hooked on the low fat latte. It could be worse right?

Jaay - now to put it over the top. Heat a little bit of Nutella in the microwave, just enough to get it pourable, and then use it as a topping. Heavenly!

Starbucks used to make an ice cream with creamy white chocolate pieces in it that was to die for. Haven’t been able to find it in a few years though. :(

yum! Cate that sounds absolutely delicious. Lucky for me, I have some hazelnut & white chocolate swirl spread in the pantry. Haven’t tried it yet, but the idea seems delicious, a nutella-ike spread swirled together with white chocolate spread? yum!
