The holiday season is approaching at what feels like the speed of light, and that often adds chaos to our already busy lives, right? With all the extra activities we find ourselves a bit more stressed and a little more tired than usual. And, if you’re like me being stressed and tired can lead to red puffy eyes. Well, I’ve got a beauty secret for you. I was always told to use eye drops and cucumber slices, and yes it works. But I’ve since found something that works even better, and it can be found right in your cup.
Tea bags. It’s so simple! Place a cool moist tea bag on each eye, and just relax a bit.
The tea contains tannin, which is a natural chemical that helps to reduce the swelling. In addition, the caffeine draws the water from your skin. The tannin combines with the caffeine, to shrink down that puffiness in a hurry. I even read that in the past, dentists used to recommend that patients put a tea bag next to their gums to reduce swelling after dental surgery. Bet ya didn’t know that, did you?
So this holiday season, or anytime you’re feeling tired and your eyes are a bit puffy give this a try. But, skip the herbal and infused teas and go straight for the basic, traditional teas.
