Tea Helps Cancer Patients

According to a recent study, tea extracts have been shown to work as part of an effective treatment for cancer patients suffering from skin damage due to radiation treatment.  This could be due in part to the fact that tea has anti-inflammatory properties.

The study was conducted by Frank Pajonk, from the University of California in L.A. along with colleagues from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and was recently printed in BMC Medicine.  The researchers used both green tea and black tea extracts comparatively and found higher levels of the anti-inflammatory properties when green tea extracts were used.  Pajonk stated that he believes the high levels of polyphenols found in tea is likely to be what is responsible for the increased anti-inflammatory activity.
