Spiced Apple Chai

During these cold winter months is there really anything better than a nice hot mug of your favorite coffee or tea to warm up with after coming in from outside?  Sometimes though I get tired of drinking the same old thing day after day, and I just want some variety, some way to spice things up (pun intended!).  With Christmas only days away, I’m seeing lots of recipes using and hearing lots of mention of apple cider so I figured why not join in and enjoy some by creating Spiced Apple Chai.

Spiced Apple Chai

1 1/2 cup boiling water
3 chai tea bags
1/2 cup apple cider
2 tsp sugar
whipped cream, optional
2 cinnamon sticks

Pour water over tea bags, and let steep for 5 minutes.  Remove tea bags and squeeze out excess tea.

Add apple cider and sugar.  Heat in a small saucepan (or microwave).  When heated pour into 2 mugs and top with whipped cream.  Garnish each with a cinnamon stick.

Just wanted to let you know that saying chai tea is like saying tea tea or noodles noodles or coffee coffee. Chai is the word for tea in Hindi. :-)

Thanks Manisha, and you’re right. I chose to write it that way in the recipe to specify what type of tea bags are called for.

Thanks again though, that may be helpful to some of our readers :)
