Creative Cups: Circa Ceramics “Cup A Day” Project

I am inspired by coffee cups. I have several different ones that remind me of a past vacation or a certain person. I like to select my coffee or tea cup each morning based on my mood. Last year I read Living Out Loud: Activities to Fuel a Creative Life by Keri Smith. It has taught me how to add creativity to my life in little ways and expressing creativity makes me a happier person. One of Keri’s suggestions is to buy something as a symbol for creativity, such as a pen or a tea cup, and use it every day. I love this idea and have been keeping my eye out for unique cups and mugs. My wandering online for an inspirational coffee cup brought me to Circa Ceramics. Each of their coffee mugs is a work of art.

Located in Chicago, Illinois, Andy Witt & Nancy Pizarro founded Circa Ceramics in 2001. Since then they have worked with some of the greatest companies in the specialty coffee industry. As a hommage to their favorite beverage, coffee, they are creating a new cup (or latte bowl, or espresso cups) each day throughout the month. The February “Cup A Day” project was mainly influenced by Flickr photos of people’s everyday coffee consumption. Their work is available to the masses primarily through art festivals around the Chicago area and at their open studio weekends. About 100 of their wares, including all of the items created during their “Cup A Day” project are available for purchase in their Etsy Shop.

Wow! Circa Ceramics cups (and bowls and tabs) are beautiful!

Patrick - some of them are totally cool too! There are some really edgy ones.

[…] Chum with a ceramics major and drink your tea in style. I read on A Nice Cuppa recently that it helps to maintain a creative mindset if you surround yourself with creative objects. Heidi Goertz supplies my mug fix, such as the delightful specimen here. […]
