Numi Opens First Tea House on October 12th

For the tea lovers based in Oakland, California here is a special treat… Numi is opening their first tea house and retail store in Embarcadero Cove on Friday, October 12th and you are invited.

The Numi Tea Garden has been planned as an urban oasis where customers can unwind, relax and immerse themselves in tea. The space has been steeped in earthy hues, furnished with wood, metal and stone evocative of the tea lands and embellished with tea art on the walls. A full selection of Numi’s loose leaf teas and herbal infusions will be available, as well as a menu of light snacks. If you don’t have time enough to sit down, but want some tea for home, the Tea Garden will double as a retail shop.

For those unfamiliar with Numi Organic Tea, they are a company recognized for their commitment to environmental consciousness and proper labor practices among their growers. They utilize organic ingredients in their blends and seek out environmentally sound products and packaging to complement. They offer a range of loose leaf teas in all categories as well as convenient teabags in a multitude of flavors.

The grand opening celebration will last from noon until midnight and will be filled with a range of festivities including musical performances and special guest appearances. Tea aficionado and writer James Norwood Pratt will be there between 2pm and 5pm. He is a favorite author among tea connoisseurs, first with his “A Tea Lover’s Treasury” and more recently with the updated version “New Tea Lover’s Treasury.” From 5pm to midnight there will be amazing ethnic music including Tibetan Throat Singing and West African Drumming. A schedule of events can be found via this special link to the Numi website.

A nice article on what appears to be a great tea house. I will try to find it the next time I am in the San Francisco/Oakland area. I do enjoy tea and I always appreciate finding a good tea house through the recommendation of a trusted source. Thanks.
