MarieBelle’s, Less Sinfull Mayan Cocoa

Happy New Years resolutions may call for a little less bling in the sweets category…  Hope everyone had a beautiful holiday.media.jpg

My near psychedelic experience was with MarieBelle’s original cocoa bar, before she went totally bling bling with her now renowned luxury Salon di Cocoa, which is featured often on the Food Network, long before they had these more modest recipes down to a science.

The original Prince Street shoppe was called “Lunette’s et Chocolat’s” or Spectacles and Cacao sweets.  Well, they put a half a tin of cocoa and mixed it with  two shots of espresso. It was quite an effective method to put a voodoo spell on me. I was hypnotized and probably made a spectacle of myself buzzing. I was on a bus to Tribeca hoping to spot Robert DeNiro again… I had to get off the bus because I was so buzzed to frolic and hop my way there to Tribeca… Goodness, the decadence of my sinful sipping. This looks like a lovely slightly less sinful cuppa! Here are the stats according to MarieBelle’s site:

“As rich and sensuous as the brand’s legendary Aztec Hot Chocolate, MarieBelle’s Maya Hot Chocolate contains 70% cacao from single-origin Colombian beans. So intense that it can be sipped straight up like an espresso, or those who have sugar sensitivities can add flavored syrups or substitutes as desired. The versatile Hot Chocolate can also be used to create recipes both savory and sweet.”

I have followed her directions to a t, which often call for skim milk or water to find the recipes delightfully satisfying. This beautiful tin at $25.00 is not cheap, but sure to please.
