Drinking coffee is a very ritualistic activity. A sacred event, if you will. For those who appreciate good coffee, the daily brew is a very necessary part of the day. Whether gulped on the way to work, or sipped over the morning news, it???s as essential as eating and breathing. Most activities must be put on hold until the first cup is consumed. Meetings can not be held, phone calls can not be made, chores can not be started. Coffee comes first.

Coffee lovers have a very close relationship with their coffeemaker or the shop where the daily cup is purchased. If something is amok with either provider of the lovely brown liquid, the day is off to a bad start. There is nothing more upsetting than to find the coffeemaker on the fritz or the local shop closed for vacation. A disruption in the daily ritual of that first cup can send a coffee lover on a wild goose chase to find a replacement. All things must hold still until this is accomplished and the second place brew may be a fine substitution, but the day may never be just right. It’s almost like getting up on the wrong side of the bed.

When all is well with the ritual of the first cup of delicious brew all is right with the world. Obstacles can be overcome, challenges can be met, and problems faced. The day can be faced with bright eyes, a pep in the step and a belly full of fresh roasted goodness.
